Israel vs. Palestine conflict issue is one of the most complex and controversial issues in the world. Simply it’s a conflict of two religions one is Islam and another one is Jews. Here Israel is the Jews nation and Palestine is the Islamic nation. This whole conflict starts from the old city of Jerusalem (the capital of Israel). Jerusalem is very important as the religious point of view for the three big religions of the world. The main reason behind the conflict between Israel and Palestine is a small 35 acres compound that is very important and holy for Islam, Christians, and Jew. In this compound, the al-Aqsa mosque and the dome of the rock are significant for Islam and the western wall is for Jews. Jews called this 35 acres compound Temple Mount and Islamic people called it Haram al sharif.

The religious importance of Temple Mount for Jews:–

Temple Mount ( that 35 acres compound in Jerusalem) is very important and holy for Jews from a religious point of view. According to their religious beliefs, Jesus delivered his first preaching here. And Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem. And Jerusalem is going to play an important role in the second coming of Jesus.

Jews also claim that the land of Israel is their ancestral land as per the book of Genesis. According to that book a long time ago a covenant was made between Abraham and God. As per the covenant, this particular land of Israel will be going to belong to him and his successor. Abraham has one son Izahak, Izahak also has one son named Jacob( also known as Israel).  Jacob/Israel has 12 sons, they are also called a ‘tribe of Israel’. And from that tribe of Israel, all Jews have originated. So that is why Jews claim the land of Israel as their ancestral land.

The religious importance of Haram Al-Sharif for Islamic people:–

There are three holiest places for Muslims. Number one is Macca, the second one is Madina and the third one is Haram Al-Sharif. So Al-Aqsa mosque and the dome of the rock is the third holiest place for Islamic people. Why is it so? The answer is that according to Islamic religious beliefs Mohammad ( an Islamic paigambar) traveled on a flying horse from Mecca to Jerusalem. Mohammad Sahab put his first foot on the Al Aqsa mosque. And also he directly goes to heaven from the Dome of the Rock.

Mohamad died in 632 AD. After four years later in 636 AD Muslim people attracted Jerusalem and established the control of Islam in Jerusalem. They made the Al Aqsa mosque and Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem in 692 AD.

How have the control of Temple Mount/Haram Al-Sharif in history:–

Among the three religions, the oldest one is the Jews ‘ religion, Judaism, which is 3000 years old. Christianity is 2000 years old and Islam is 1500 years old.

According to Jews religious philosophy, one of their old kings of Jerusalem, called Solomon, constructed the first holiest temple in 1000 BCE in that 35 acres compound. That temple was destroyed by Babylonians. After that one more temple was constructed in 516-586 BCE. Which was again destroyed by Romans in 70 CE. One wall of that is remaining which was now known as the western wall. This implies that according to Jews two of their holiest temples have been constructed here in that 35 acres compound and one of the walls of their second temple is remaining( western wall ).

Crusade war (1095- 1271):-

About a thousand years ago there was a holy war that was fought between Christianity and Islamic people. The war aims to take control over the holy land of Jerusalem which was controlled by Islam at that time. So Christians have control of Jerusalem from 1095 to 1271.

After that in 1275, Islam got his control back on this holy land. At that time Islamic people made a trust, known as WAQF trust, to administer that particular area. They do not allow any non-Muslim people to enter Haram al-Sharif. That trust has administered that holy land for around 800 years.

Zionism and Arab nationalization the foundation of Israel and Palestine:-

At the end of the 19th century, two events were occurring at a time: one was Zionism and the second one is Arab nationalism. Zionism is the movement that refers to the movement of Jews to their ancestor land, which was given to them by God, and to form a Jews nation, Israel. Arab nationalism is the movement whose aim was to unite all Arab countries in one single nation.

At the time when Islam has control of Jerusalem, the thirteenth century to the nineteenth century, the land of Israel and Palestine for 500 years many Jews have migrated to other parts of the world. So to unite all Jews and for a making-of-Israel, the movement of Zionism has started. This movement gets speedy when after the loss of  World war the rise of Hitler occurs in Germany. Hitler has his ways and philosophy. According to him, the reason behind Germany’s loss is the Jews who migrated to their country. So he started the persecution of Jews people. He killed many of them in his Nazi concentration camps. This event triggered the speed of Zionism and Jews’ people started migrating toward Israel. On the other hand, Arab nationalism fails.

Israel and Palestine and Arab countries:-

From 1922–1948, the land of Israel and Palestine was administered by the United Kingdom( UK) under the mandate rule. Until 1947 the land belonged to the Philistines only as there were no Israelis. And this whole land was controlled by the UK. So due to the religious conflict, the United Nations( UN) gave the partition plan after 1945. According to this plan that particular land is going to be divided into two parts, one of Israel and another of Palestine. And the area of Jerusalem will be under international control. This plan was accepted by Jews people but this plan was rejected by Palestine and Arab countries.

Israel declared itself as an independent nation just one day before the end of the mandate system. This action was opposed by Palestinian and Arab countries. So they declared war against Israel. In his war, Israel dominated and captured most of the land which was under the control of Palestine. Jerusalem is also divided into two parts one is western and another is eastern. Israel didn’t take over the whole of Jerusalem as it may lead to major blood baths worldwide. After that in 1967, all Arab nations got together and attacked Israel and a war of 6 days was fought. In this war, Israel won again and took control of the whole of Jerusalem. But take care that they did not change the administration of WAQF trust.
